Every year, the finest young ladies from the Greater Springfield area and surrounding towns compete for an opportunity to represent the city of Springfield as the Colleen or a member of her Court.

SPRINGFIELD COLLEEN CONTEST

Rules & Eligibility
​
The Springfield Colleen Contest is for young women of Irish decent, who are 16 to 24 years of age, never been married or never had a child, and at least a High School junior. Residents of Springfield, East Longmeadow, Longmeadow, Hampden, Wilbraham, Ludlow and Palmer are eligible. Residents of other towns may be eligible as well.
Contestants are interviewed by a panel of judges at the preliminary contest and five finalists are picked to represent the Springfield Colleen Court. At the Coronation Ball, one of the five finalists will be crowned Springfield Colleen. All members of the court receive a genuine Irish wool sweater, scarf, sash, jewelry and more. Additionally, the Colleen receives a tiara and a free trip to Ireland.

The Springfield Colleen and her Court will ride atop a themed float in the Holyoke St. Patrick's Day parade and attend many events, parties, and fundraisers throughout the year.
​
Each of the five colleen finalists will be eligible to apply for the Mossie and Kathleen Murphy Scholarship.
​
The preliminary contest is Saturday, November 5, 2022 at the Barney Carriage House in Springfield, MA. The Coronation Ball is Saturday, February 11, 2023 at Sheraton Springfield Monarch Place in Springfield, MA.
