SPRINGFIELD, MASS (May 20, 2020) - The Springfield St. Patrick’s Parade Committee has announced they will honor the 2020 Award Winners and Colleens in their 2021 season, which means they will have the opportunity to march in the 2021 Holyoke St. Patrick’s Parade. The 2020/2021 Springfield Parade Marshal is Sean Cahillane, John & Agnes Burke Award winner Kerri Sullivan, Paul G. Caron Award winner Maura Troy Cournoyer, and Mary B. Troy Appreciation Award winner Stephen Allen Jewelers. The 2020/2021 Springfield Colleen is Colleen Curley, and her court Grace McCarthy, Danielle Buoniconti, Maeve Shea, and Marah McDonnell.
“I have contacted all of the award winners and colleens and everyone is elated with this decision,” said Alesia Barbaro, President of the Springfield St. Patrick’s Parade Committee. “This will allow us to celebrate our honorees the way we intended and have them march down the streets of Holyoke next March.”
With that decision, the committee will not be holding a Springfield Colleen Contest in the fall or hosting an Awards Presentation Ball in February. The committee has some other events in the works to help celebrate Irish heritage, including a half way to St. Patrick’s Day fundraiser in September, hopefully.
